The spectacular Waitakere Lions Fireworks show is on Saturday after being delayed a fortnight due to bad weather.
The laser, lights, special effects and fireworks event at The Trusts Stadium in Central Park Drive, Henderson, from 5pm, features a 'Stone Henge' style construction of eight huge columns in a circle with flame throwers, search lights, pyrotechnics and more to light up the night sky.
Strobe and LED light systems are added, with the whole fireworks and light show choreographed to music lasts nearly 30 minutes.
There's plenty more to entertain the expected 12,000 spectators prior to the grand finale, with Moto Mayhem motorcycle stunt riders performing, along with marching bands like Guggenmusik and the visiting Westpac rescue helicopter, one of the show's charity recipients.
Glowsticks are for sale, and prizes and giveaways are offered.
''It will be an amazing night,'' Lions fireworks director Pete Sinton of Kumeu says.
Tickets from West Auckland liquor outlets, The Trusts Stadium or visit waitakerefireworks.org.nz for information.
* The Waitakere Lions Fireworks show is supported by The Trusts Community Foundation, the Auckland Council, Suburban Newspapers Auckland/Western Leader, The Trusts Stadium, Van Tiel Pyrotechnics, Light and Pyro, and the York Corporation (Bad Boy Fireworks).
