Sunny skies, perfect conditions and good company hooked up a cracker day for the Kaipara Cruising Club's ladies fishing competition.
The ideal surroundings attracted small and large craft alike, filled with keen fisherwomen hoping to land the biggest snapper, kahawai, gurnard or trevally.
One of the participants, Bernie Malizia, says the annual event was a challenge to catch the really good fish with the graveyard fishing ground out of bounds due to the boundary from South Head to Pouto Point.
However, spot prizes were bountiful, along with prizes handed out after weigh in at the clubrooms.
