A bright yellow giraffe has been spotted at two Rodney Z stations, but it's all Good in the Hood.

Z Kumeu and Z Riverhead petrol stations are each giving away $5000 to four local neighbourhood groups as part of their Good in the Hood campaign, and this year Harold's Life Education Trust is a beneficiary at both stations.

With every Z customer given a disk to vote with, the money is divided up by the number of disks each charity gets.

Life Education Trust's mascot Harold was on hand at both stores to convince customers to vote for the children's charity which teaches 6000 kids in 32 local schools in Rodney.

The programme educates children to lead healthier and more rewarding lives by focusing on challenges such as alcohol, drugs and bullying.

Children are taught skills such as interpretation, critical analysis, problem solving, negotiation, and taking positive action, which helps them understand food, energy, nutrition and more.

Other local Good in the Hood beneficiaries for this year include Nor-West Community Patrol Trust, Parent Aid North West and Plunket's Kumeu branch at Z Kumeu, and Parent Aid North West, Recreate NZ, Victim Support Rodney at Z Riverhead.

Get into your local Z petrol station during May to vote for your favourite charity.
