Family at a loss over missing pooch
The heartbroken Gee family family is offering a substantial reward for the safe return of its dog Basil.
But Natasha, Cameron and son Vinnie, 3, aren't the only ones hoping for a happy reunion.
Basil's longtime playmate, a maltese yorkshire terrier/ jack russell cross named Olive, is devastated.
"She's lost her appetite and she's really suffered," Mrs Gee says. "We've been letting her lie on our bed every night because we feel so sorry for her."
Basil, a maltese/australian terrier cross vanished from the Gees' home in Elliot St, Riverhead on November 29.
He was wearing a collar, a registration and name tag and is also microchipped.
Basil and Olive, 6, have been inseparable since they were puppies and once cheated death after eating a pack of Nurofen pain killers.
They had their stomachs pumped and were put on a drip by a vet who commented on their obvious bond.
"Olive would groom Basil and lick his ears frequently. They were adorable with each other," Mrs Gee says.
A flier drop in the area has failed to turn up any information and Mrs Gee wonders if someone has pinched Basil for a Christmas present.
"It's hard not knowing what happened to him. I just want a bit of closure," she says.
