Orewa and Dairy Flat Girl Guides have shared a bit of Christmas spirit with the Salvation Army.

As part of a Ruby Graham Challenge girls from Pippins, Brownies and Guides have spent the last four terms learning to knit blankets, donating food, giving soft toys and Christmas decorations to be donated to the charity.

Clubs around Auckland are competing to see who can donate the most. The local club delivered 120 soft toys and a ute-load of goods to the Hibiscus Coast Salvation Army on Friday.

"This is such a good way for the girls to learn how to give back to community. We have special badges for those who are especially generous," says club co-ordinator Samantha Cuckow.

If anyone would like to know more about the club phone Samantha on 426-2073 or 027-480-1181.
