A documentary about the Dalai Lama is coming to the North Shore.

The film Dalai Lama Renaissance will be featured on November 28 in Massey University at Albany, from 7pm.

Event organiser and Shore resident Mojan Javadi says part of the proceeds from the film showing will be for the benefit of the Buddhist community in Auckland. The film is an 80-minute documentary about 40 of the world’s most innovative thinkers who travel to India in the Himalayas to meet with the Dalai Lama.

These eminent individuals were invited by the Dalai Lama to discuss the world’s problems and how they can be solved.

"What transpired was unexpected and powerful and was captured by an 18-person, five-camera film crew led by producer-director Khashyar Darvich," Ms Javadi says.

Narrated by Hollywood actor Harrison Ford, the documentary also features quantum physicists Fred Alan Wolf and Amit Gowami and Dr Michael Bernard.

The documentary has won 10 awards at film festivals around the world.

"In such an economic and political climate in the world, I thought this documentary may bring some hope and unity for us in New Zealand," she says.

Ms Javadi is an Iranian-New Zealander doing her masters in film directing at the University of Auckland.
