A benefit concert for typhoon victims in the Philippines is coming to Takapuna.

Tomorrow's Shelter from the Storm concert will have youth bands performing on stage for a night of fun and entertainment.

Performers include the Pancho Family, Blue Room Experiment, God Save Metal, The Greenwoods, Mica Arroyo and Emerson and Bernadette Nufable.

Organiser Menchie Pancho says they decided to do a one-off concert to help raise money for typhoon-devastated communities in the Philippines.

"The devastation wrought by a series of powerful cyclones that hit the Philippines was beyond belief. We thought we could do our bit to help rebuild their lives," she says.

The event is expected to draw a big number of Filipino migrants who have made the Shore their home away from home.

Nearly half of the more than 30,000 Filipinos in New Zealand live on the Shore.

Proceeds will go to the Philippine National Red Cross in aid of the typhoon victims.

The programme starts at 5pm at the Takapuna Brake and Automotive grounds, 57 Barrys Point Rd.

For tickets call Mrs Pancho on 027-244-8089, Jo's Garage on 442-5834 or Takapuna Brake on 486-7171.
