Another year of boosting community projects is anticipated by Glenfield Community Board chairman John Gillon.

Mr Gillon was recently re-elected unopposed to serve as chairman until local body elections later next year, and Chris Marshall was re-elected as deputy chairman.

Mr Gillon says he is pleased to continue to oversee the upgrade of playground equipment in Glenfield parks, including exercise equipment that is being installed in Marlborough Park.

He says he is also pleased about the upcoming planting of fruit trees for children to enjoy in some Glenfield parks.

The board also gave funding for the Glenfield Christmas parade and gala.

Mr Gillon says the board is also proud to have recently given funding for an upgrade of dive facilities at Glenfield Leisure Centre after a request from North Harbour Diving.

"We have funded the replacement of the one-metre and three-metre diving board, resurfacing of the platform, and the installation of a bubble machine which softens the water for new divers."

He says that with just one year until the local body election, there is a lot of work to do in preparation for the supercity.

"I am pleased to have the confidence of the board in being re-elected as chair unopposed, and very happy that Chris Marshall was re-elected unopposed as deputy chairman."
