Pupils from Manuka Primary School are taking part in the BNZ Ukulele Festival tomorrow.
A group of 22 students attended a recent rehearsal for the festival at Mt Smart athletic stadium.
Manuka Primary's Carol Davey says more than 1000 children, teachers and parents from all over Auckland and Northland attended the rehearsal.
They formed a shape of a giant ukulele in an attempt to break the world record of 851. A plane flew over to take photos of the mass ensemble.
The group then played a set of 12 songs.
"We will attempt to break the record again at the festival," Ms Davey says.
The free event from 10am to 4pm will feature concerts, ukulele workshops, stalls, food and fun for the family.
