Tax help for new migrants

Settlement Support North Shore is hosting a seminar on the New Zealand tax system for new migrants.

Settlement adviser Sarb Lester says the free workshop aims to give newcomers a better understanding of the workings of Inland Revenue.

"By attending the seminar newcomers can get to learn more about taxation in New Zealand and other matters such as budgeting and financial support," she says.

Topics in the workshop include the importance of having an Inland Revenue number, Working for Families tax credit and the KiwiSaver scheme.

Facilitators will be from North Harbour Budgeting Services Inc and Inland Revenue.

The seminar will be on Tuesday at the Norman King Building on Ernie Mays St in Northcote, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
