A new job has prompted Simon Keepa to give his dreadlocks the chop.
The Glenfield man had dreadlocks for seven and a half years.
In exchange for cutting his hair he decided to raise money for the Cancer Society.
Mr Keepa, who just finished studying physiotherapy, will be starting a job at a school that has a no-dreadlock policy.
"A lot of people in Auckland have not known me without dreads and were sad to see them go," he says.
Friends and family donated more than $1000 towards the charity.
