TWINS Jack and Roxy Murphy are lucky enough to have two great-grandmothers.
Sadly only Nan Burden, 93, can remember their birthday.
Their other great-grandmother Dorothy Campbell, 80, has alzheimers and struggles to even remember their names.
The twins' grandparents, Brina and Peter Burden, who are members of the Rotary Club of Northcote, have decided to raise awareness of alzheimers and dementia.
"It is hard, she can't remember the great-grandchildren and is slowly starting to not even remembering my name. She can't even make a cup of tea any more," says Brina, Dorothy's daughter.
The Northcote club will be holding a cuppa for a cause event during the North Shore City Heritage Festival on September 11, in support of Alzheimers Auckland.
People can have a cuppa and see a display of old china and photographs at the Northcote Senior Citizens House, 119 Queen St, Northcote Pt, on September 11 between 10.30am and 4pm.
To contribute a piece of china to be exhibited or auctioned in memory of a loved one call Brina on 418-2955 or 486-8412 .
Tickets are $10 for adults, seniors $5 and a gold coin donation for under-12s.
