After being "desperate and dateless" for the last three years who better to turn to for help than your Fairy Gokmother.
If it wasn't the cut out of a fisherman in stubbies with Chantall Turner's head on top then it must have been the poem she wrote asking for a new lover that won her a makeover with Gok Wan.
The world-renowned style icon was in New Zealand for the Westfield Style Tour which kicked off in Albany on May 29.
Ms Turner, 43, was the lucky Westfield VIP who won the chance to have a live makeover with the British fashion star in front of around 4000 people.
The Birkenhead resident says she entered the competition for a bit of fun after going through an intense 14 months.
Her best friend's son, and her own son's best friend, died of a brain tumour last month.
"It just makes you realise that life is short and you need to have fun while you can," she says.
Ms Turner says during his illness she tried to help him raise money and awareness by putting him in the spotlight, but he wasn't having a bar of it, she says.
"Perhaps this was his way of making a spectacle of me from the other side," she says.
Ms Turner, a mother of three, says she hasn't had a date since she became single three years ago.
A few tips from Gok on how best to dress her body shape would help give her the push she needs to re-enter the dating scene, she says.
Ms Turner says the experience was a whirlwind but a lot of fun. She didn't realise quite how many people were in the audience until Gok pulled her up on stage.
But she wasn't the only one as Wan plucked out seven other guests from the crowd to receive personalised makeovers during the live show. They included Bridget Bott, 44, from Beach Haven, Rachel Wright, 45, from Torbay and Becky Busch, 35, from Devonport.
During his visit, Wan also launched the Westfield Body Shape Calculator, an online tool to help guide women when selecting the best styles for their body shape.
He says everyone can be stylish if they are armed with the knowledge of how to dress for their unique shape.
