Retailers in Takapuna's Hurstmere Rd say bringing the Sunday market to their doorsteps would be a welcome move.
The North Shore Times surveyed 15 stores on Hurstmere Rd and found all but one of the owners think it's a good idea.
Mercedes and Isaac Goldsmith have owned Chocolate Obsession for three months and say they would support the move "100 per cent".
Sundays down their end of Hurstmere Rd, closest to Lake Rd, are dead, they say, with many of the neighbouring shops not even opening.
"We think the market moving here could become massive," Mr Goldsmith says. "For us it's the sooner the better."
Rendells Photo Service owner Graham Rendell says he tried opening on Sundays but found it wasn't worth the time or money. Many stores don't open on Sundays because owners say the markets pull people away from the retail strip.
But he says he might give it another try if the markets were there.
Opposition to the move comes from a florist who says she needs guaranteed access to the road for delivery vans as she often has weddings on Sundays.
She also feels it would be unfair for retailers who pay expensive rent to have a stall owner paying $30 in such a prime position.
