Zack Brickland knows how to juggle between street art and high culture.
The 17-year-old performer is set to join the New Zealand Opera's production of the Czech comedic opera The Bartered Bride.
Taking inspiration from his father, known as Shamus, Zack started to pick up juggling when he was four and started to seriously learn when he was seven.
"I used to stand on my father's shoulders while juggling fire torches," he says.
The Westlake Boys High School student, who started performing at busking festivals, says The Bartered Bride is his biggest gig yet.
Eve Gordon, the show's circus co-ordinator, says Zack has potential to make it big.
"He's got that 17-year-old thing going on, he's so brave to get rough and tumbled.
"He's so much fun to work with, he's great," she says.
The Bartered Bride will play four shows at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, from Saturday, before it moves to Wellington.
