Search and rescue teams including the police Eagle helicopter are combing beaches on Auckland's North Shore for a missing woman.

Browns Bay police said Bin Chen, better known as "Cissey", went for a walk from her Torbay home about 5.30pm yesterday and did not return.

Chen was reported missing by her husband, who said she regularly walks along Long Bay beach to the end before returning home.

Chen is a 44-year-old Chinese woman of medium build and 1.56m tall. She was last seen wearing dark trousers - possibly blue jeans - and a white fleece top.

A police search and rescue team is searching Long Bay beach and the surrounding area. The helicopter has also done a sweep of the area, police said.

Anyone with information can call Browns Bay police on 09 478 1700 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
