To say we saw something special last week is an understatement.
What we saw from Cedric Jackson was incredible, his triple double is the first for any Breaker in the history of the club and showed what a talent we have in a SkyCity Breakers uniform this season.
So much of the pre-game hype was focused on Cedric and his battle against NBA No 6 draft pick Jonny Flynn, playing for the Tigers.
Cedric not only managed to keep his head during all of the media questioning during the build up but stayed true to his word and played within the Breakers playbook. Never once did he appear as though he was taking on the Tigers on his own - the stats sheet might suggest otherwise, but everything he was doing was within the "team" framework.
Whether he was motivated that little extra by the presence of Flynn is a different matter and understandable.
Every player in any sport likes to match up against the best, whether it is an individual or a team and Cedric clearly had his mind set on a strong performance in front of a sellout crowd at the NSEC.
Such is life as a professional sportsman though that we have been back into the hard work this week preparing for the game against Sydney tomorrow night, in Sydney.
One of the strengths of this club is we don't rest on our laurels and already the focus has moved towards scouting Sydney and the dangers they present.
And while we don't look beyond that, for the sake of these words to you I am going to - for just a moment.
Our final home game of 2012 promises to be a special one at Vector Arena on December 13.
The game is sponsored by SkyCity and they are encouraging all fans to bring along an unwrapped Christmas present to the game, for donation to Kidz First children's hospital.
It will be a great night, and the final chance for us to see you all before Christmas.
So book your tickets now at nzbreakers.co.nz and enjoy a night of festive cheer, and make some other child's Christmas that little bit better with a present.
