After years out of the limelight, singer Aaradhna is back with a new album and summer tour plans.

Aaradhna and her partner Leon Henry, who plays for the Breakers, live in Albany.

The 29-year-old released a new album Treble & Reverb in November last year after a taking a break from the industry in 2010.

She describes the album as honest and having a "doo-wop, soul, hip-hop style twist".

She says she is really grateful to be back in the game.

"I did a whole lot of soul-searching and I didn't know if I wanted to do music again. I was quite depressed and just doing nothing."

Her passion was reignited when Mr Henry's basketball career took the couple to live in Romania.

Her inspiration came from listening to soul greats such as Amy Winehouse, whose Back to Black album she had on repeat for days. The first single Wake Up from Treble & Reverb was written by Aaradhna as a plea to herself when she realised she wanted to get back into music.

"Music is all I know and I took it for granted," she says.

Aaradhna is in the More FM Summer Vineyard Tour with Op Shop, Che Fu and Missy Higgins, which includes Turanga Creek Winery and Vineyard in Whitford.

She says she is excited and had heard about the tour in the past.

"It sounded pretty awesome, so to be a part of it this year is pretty major."

She says she still gets nervous every time she performs.

"A larger crowd is a lot more scary for me, I like small, intimate crowds. But outdoor events are fun," she says.

She is also part of a Waitangi Day concert in Flat Bush, South Auckland.
