HIGH NOTES: Tayla Alexander continues to break records in the Kiwi music world.

There is no stopping 12-year-old North Shore soprano Tayla Alexander.

After releasing her record-setting debut album Songbird less than six months ago, Tayla returned to the stage at last month's North Shore Performing Arts Competition.

Here the Northcross Intermediate student set further records by winning four of the five categories that she entered, including the coveted overall trophy for her age group, the Elvia Cup.

More than 30 young performers took the stage for the annual competition, adjudicated by mezzo-soprano Kate Spence.

As well as winning the cup for the second year in a row, she won the PumpHouse trophy for the Song in Costume category.

Tayla won the trophy by performing I Could Have Danced All Night from the musical My Fair Lady.

All of this was topped off when she got to meet classical crossover superstar Josh Groban during his recent New Zealand tour.
