A Browns Bay Countdown customer is shocked trucks are allowed to enter through the exit lanes used by cars.
Lisa Moore, from Torbay, says she was "naturally really shocked" when a truck turned into the lane she was using to exit the car park.
"No way would you expect incoming traffic. Lucky I slammed on my brakes otherwise he would have got us. We're lucky we weren't killed."
Ms Moore phoned the store and was told the truck drivers would be warned about their speed, she says.
"But a big truck versus a car, it doesn't matter how fast it's going. Either give trucks a lane or a sign before someone gets crushed."
A Countdown spokesperson says truck drivers will be reminded about speed and safety.
"Due to the nature of the car park and limited space for angle turns, the easiest and safest way for trucks to access the loading bay at the rear of the store is to use the main exit lanes."
The spokesperson says the car park layout will be reviewed.
"The safety of our customers and team is of the utmost importance to us."
