Support for victims of sexual violence will continue thanks to a three-year funding contract with the Ministry of Social Development.
HELP, an organisation that provides holistic support services to survivors of sexual violence, is available to residents of the North Shore, central Auckland and Waitakere.
The contract will see $457,000 a year go towards counselling, a 24/7 telephone support line, call-out services and court preparation for survivors of sexual violence.
HELP crisis services manager Aimee Stockenstroom says the deal gives stability to the organisation that has battled against a funding shortfall for a long time.
"Minister Bennett shares our vision for survivors of sexual violence to access professional, consistent sexual violence services when they need it most." According to HELP, one in five Kiwi women face a sexual assault during their lifetime.
