Police have charged a man for allegedly robbing a bank using a hand gun.
A 39-year-old Red Beach man has appeared in the North Shore District Court on a charge of aggravated robbery.
Security camera footage of a man at the counter of the ASB branch in Mairangi Bay was released shortly after he entered and pointed a black pistol at staff while demanding money on February 7.
A teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money to a man who exited the bank before turning left on to Beach Rd at around 11.23am.
North Shore CIB arrested a man shortly afterwards at the same address where they recovered money and a firearm.
Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong says the early arrest and recovery of the money was down to the assistance of the media, members of the public and the excellent local knowledge of police.
He would not make any further comments as the matter is now before the courts.
