A cricket match with a difference will help fight leukaemia and blood cancer.

The Nicholson family cricket team is taking on the Masonic Cricket Club in a special match as part of the Shave for a Cure campaign.

Earlier this year life member Michael Nicholson went from the golf course in the morning to the hospital in the afternoon.

He was diagnosed with a double dose of cancer, lymphoma and leukaemia.

Mr Nicholson's family, friends and fellow club members are hosting a shave event during the cricket match's lunch break.

The Nicholson family has been involved with the club for 40 years.

The cricket match is on March 23 at the Masonic Cricket Club, Vauxhall Rd, Devonport.
