The Waitemata DHB Warriors (North Shore Hospital) dragon boat team put in a strong performance at the Auckland Regional Dragon Boat Championships on Lake Pupuke.
The Warriors came third in the premier B division 2km race, behind the Becaneers (Beca) and Air New Zealand.
Fine weather and mild winds made for perfect conditions for the adult and secondary schools' competitions.
In the adult premier division Waikato Water Sports took a clean sweep for the third year in a row, winning the 500m, 200m and 2km finals. In the 500m race Lion took out second place and Pupuke-based North Shore Dragons were third.
In the secondary schools' competition, 29 teams competed on the water and chant competitions entertained off the water.
North Shore schools had some top results. In the open grand final Westlake Boys narrowly beat the immensely strong Epsom Girls Gold and Epsom Girls Blue teams. In the mixed grand final Long Bay College were second. Northcote College 1 won the mixed plate final and Kristin won the mixed bowl final.
