When Jenni Ebert was told she had severe osteoporosis she didn’t expect her recovery to come about by following in her weightlifting husband’s footsteps.

The 61-year-old Campbells Bay resident won gold at the world masters games in Sydney – setting five world records.

Battling torn rotator cuffs in each shoulder with medical treatment from North Shore physiotherapist Murray Hao, Jenni continued training at the Millennium Institute with her husband and 1974 Commonwealth Games weightlifting champion Tony Ebert.

"We know resistance exercise can slow down, stop or sometimes reverse osteoporosis," says Jenni.

"I feel so fit and strong, so I’m eager for my next x-ray to see what my bone density is."
