An SPCA pup, adopted in Kerikeri by Michaela Peer and Gunther Weiss, is now a mountain dog, living in style in beautiful Austria.
Russell, a heelercross, was born at the SPCA kennels in Okaihau in Febrary.
He was kept in foster care by AnnMaree Millis in Kerikeri from the age of three weeks until he was adopted by Michaela and Gunter at 12 weeks.
When the couple returned to Austria in July, they couldn't bear to leave him behind so Russell went back to AnnMaree until he was able to fly to Munich a fortnight ago.
He was collected by his owners at Munich and driven home to Hallein in the Alps where he is getting used to a whole different kind of pasture.
"Gunther and I, are very happy to have our little dog back. The trip, I think, wasn't easy for him, but he is happy that we are all together now," says Michaela from Austria.
