He says hello but he can’t introduce himself because he doesn’t have a name and Polly's just not good enough for this magnificent young macaw.

The stunning newcomer to The Parrot Place in Kerikeri, is just 12 months old and is expected to be quite a crowd puller.

Owners Mark and Vanessa Barratt are looking for a suitable name and would like the community to get involved.

Macaws are native to Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

The facial feathers of this species are said to be unique to each bird.

Send your name the parrot entries to: The Parrot Place, 1 Mission Rd. As a prize, Mark and Vanessa are offering a framed photograph of their prize bird and a family pass to The Parrot Place.

They have a variety of native and exotic parrots from throughout the world, including the New Zealand kakariki.
