Nicky Smith has been appointed as venue manager starting at the Turner Centre on March 1.

This appointment follows the departure of Erica Richards who is moving to Australia.

Ms Smith graduated from Kerikeri High School in 2009 and enrolled at the prestigious Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School in Wellington.

Following a passion that evolved through school and was nurtured as a volunteer at the Turner Centre, Nicky graduated late last year with a Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts Management.

During her time at Toi Whakaari she was awarded the inaugural Bill Guest award, a scholarship, recognising continued leadership and excellence in the school, further aiding Nicky's ability to exceed in all elements of production, stage, event and film production.

Nicky received a diverse range of theatre and event experience.

She is currently working on the annual AMI Round the Bays fun run and half marathon in Wellington.

Nicky is now keen to "come home" to Kerikeri and make a difference in the local community through her role at the Turner Centre.

She is enthusiastic to help people interested in the theatre industry, to better understand the options and opportunities that can be gained through volunteering and learning at institutions like the Turner Centre.
