Dargaville Save the Children volunteers raised $3481 for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

They raised funds over a two-day period outside Gloria’s Flowers and Gifts store, collecting $1385.

Volunteers also collected $2096 outside Woolworths.

Organiser Veronica Simpkin says: "We would like to thank the kind and generous people of Northland who have donated their money to the relief fund for the people in need in Haiti."

Save the Children NZ says life-saving relief kits are being distributed quickly as well as health kits. They have also been creating child friendly spaces where children can play and recover from the trauma they have experienced from the magnitude 7 earthquake that struck the island.
