The New Zealand Transport Agency advises motorists that there will be line marking work at three locations on State Highway 1 between Oteha Valley Rd and the Orewa interchange during the next week.
Speed restrictions will be in place so that the work can be carried out safely and there will also be a temporary closure of the BP service centre at Dairy Flat for a short time during one night.
Line marking the service centre’s on and off ramps is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17. The work will be done after midnight for about three hours. During this time there will be no access to or from the service centre and it will be closed. The agency says drivers travelling north on SH1 should have enough fuel to get to the next available service stations in Warkworth or Wellsford.
The other locations for line marking are southbound between Grand Drive and Silverdale today and northbound between Oteha Valley Rd and Silverdale, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, March 14 to 15.
To cause the least disruption to road users, the work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am when traffic volumes are light. During this time, the agency asks that drivers take extra care passing through the work sites and adhere to the sign posted speed limit. Speeds will be restricted to 30kmh and traffic moved to the motorway shoulder.
Line marking is an important part of the maintenance programme to ensure the motorway is kept in a good and safe condition for all users, says the agency’s State Highways Auckland manager Tommy Parker.
All work is weather-dependent. If it can not be carried out on the date specified, it will be done on the next available evening.
