Little Sam Rowland is about to get the ride of his life.

His family has drawn up a bucket list for the four-year-old, who has a tumour of the spinal cord.

On Sunday, Sam gets to take on the first adventure in his bucket list - a ride in a fire truck complete with police escort and a parade through town.

Six-year-old sister Jessica, who has cerebral palsy, will ride in the police car alongside the kids' dad Wayne - ''so they can wave at Sammy'', mum Rachel says.

She hopes as many people as possible will wave to Sam as the police-fire escort cruises though Victoria St in Dargaville just after 3.30pm on Sunday.

Sam has a few more things to look forward to on his bucket list including a swim with the dolphins and a trip to Australia.
