An appeal for a Northland cancer clinic is being launched with a fundraising dinner this Friday.

Project Promise aims to raise $3 million in three years to build a cancer clinic at Whangarei Hospital.

At present, Northland cancer patients travel to Auckland for treatment.

The dinner includes talks by Health Minister Tony Ryall, All Black legend Buck Shelford and 10,000-metre Commonwealth Games gold medallist Dick Tayler.

About 400 tickets have been sold for the launch dinner, with just a few left.

The Project Promise project launch will be held at 33 Events Centre, Porowini Ave, from 6pm on Friday, March 19.

Tickets cost $125 each, phone 4361334 or 4355143.
