A fun time for the whole family is on offer with this Saturday's Onerahi Community Day.

The free event will be run from 10am till noon at Sherwood Park by Onerahi Resource Centre and Health Promotions.

The aim of the day is to celebrate living in Onerahi, resource centre co-ordinator Faith King says.

The event is part of the Endless Summer Festival and will include musical entertainment, dancing and buskers.

Food will be for sale including coffee, a hangi and a barbecue.

Health Promotions will be promoting a healthy and safe community and its message will be driven home with free fruit kebabs and water bottles.

"I think it's a great time to do it because lots of these events have sweet things but nothing healthy," Faith says.

A strong anti-violence message will also be promoted, carrying on the theme of a recent hikoi in central Whangarei dedicated to Patricia Wowo McGrath.

There will also be community stalls, giveaways and a display of SPCA pets up for adoption.
