People get the chance this weekend to share their thoughts about what the Awhi project has done so far – good or bad.
When the project in Smiths Ave started last year "we knew what we wanted but a lot has changed since and it’s time to plan for the future," says Pikorua Community House volunteer co-ordinator Connie Raiwhara.
The house is part of the Awhi community wraparound project and this Saturday it’s hosting an open day from 10am to 2pm.
Along with the bouncy castles, music, a free sausage sizzle and games the open day will also give people the opportunity to have their say about what happens next.
People will be able to post their ideas, questions or comments on a wall.
"We’ll take the feedback and questions to the next meeting and get answers," Ms Raiwhara says.
The Awhi playgroup, community constable Jason Tuhi, Papakura District Council representatives and a Housing New Zealand group will also be at the open day.
"If people have got any questions they can ask on the day," Ms Raiwhara says.
The open day also gives people the chance to get rid of any unwanted household items.
"If people have got things lying around home they can bring them down," she says.
"They can leave them here and people can take what they want."
Ms Raiwhara says everyone is welcome – it’s not just for local residents.
The Awhi open day is on this Saturday at the Smiths Ave netball courts and Pikorua Community House from 10am to 2pm.
