Police want to speak to two teenage girls about the mugging of a 15-year-old girl on a train stopped at Papakura station.
Detective sergeant Dave French says the girl was attacked by the pair as she travelled home to Pukekohe around 7.45pm on September 25.
The two girls approach-ed the 15-year-old after some boys they’d been travelling with left the train.
One tried to snatch the girl’s phone but she refused to let go.
"The second teenager then grabbed the victim’s backpack from the seat and ran off with it."
The first teenager ran off after punching the girl in the face.
The dark grey Von Dutch backpack contained cosmetics, an older model black iPod nano with charger and clothing including a purple singlet, t-shirt and grey hoodie.
Mr French says two girls fitting the muggers’ descriptions were seen on security cameras running from the train and across the station overbridge.
Police would like to identify and speak with the two girls in the CCTV images.
Anyone with information can call Mr French on 295-0200.
