The Clevedon Community Board’s Christmas fund has been carved up among nine community groups.

Every year the Manukau City Council gives each community board $7000 to fund festive local celebrations.

The largest grant of $2000 went to the Pohutukawa Coast Charitable Trust to help fund Christmas at the Marina on December 5.

The Clevedon Residents Association receives $1300 to put towards the village’s Christmas parade on December 12.

Two $700 grants were given to the Orere Community Boating Club and the Kawakawa Ladies Group.

The boating club will put the money into their Golden Oldies festive function and the Kawakawa group will help fund their Christmas luncheon for retired residents.

The Clevedon Kidz Early Childhood Centre has been given $735 to go towards its December 11 children’s Christmas party.

The Kawakawa Bay Presbyterian Church was awarded $500 to help put on its Christmas in OUR Park event on December 20.

A Littlies Christmas service will be held on Saturday with the help of a $400 grant to the Clevedon Playgroup.

Also on Saturday is the Pohutukawa Coast Presbyterian Church fair, helped by $350 from the board’s Christmas fund.

The Kawakawa Bay Community Association was granted $315 for its Kids Christmas events on December 24 and a yet-to-be confirmed date in February.

The council stipulates that any projects allocated money from the fund shouldn’t receive any other forms of council funding.
