Singer-songwriter Anna Coddington is adding her voice to a campaign to stop a residential development close to Clevedon village going ahead.

On March 10 she's singing at a fundraising concert organised by action group Clevedon Cares. The group formed in 2005 to stop the proposed development of the Wairoa River Maritime Village.

Ms Coddington has sung back-up for Bic Runga, Anika Moa and SJD and performed in bands Handsome Geoffrey, Duchess and recently with Fly My Pretties.

Her solo album The Lake was released in 2008.

Group spokeswoman Mary Whitehouse says they’re grateful for Ms Coddington’s input.

"It’s fantastic to have the support of another great Kiwi artist in our efforts to preserve the unique character of our part of rural New Zealand," she says.

The Environment Court completed a drawn-out hearing concerning the canal project just before Christmas and its decision is expected by the end of March.

The Clevedon Cares concert is on March 10 at the Clevedon Village Hall.

Ms Coddington will be joined by singer-songwriter Reb Fountain.

Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $30 from the Clevedon Woolshed in Clevedon, at www.undertheradar.co.nz or call 292-9344.
