It could be the most rewarding five kilometres or so you will ever walk.
More than 50 prizes are up for grabs this Sunday at the Conifer Grove Barely 5km fun run and amble.
Prizes include a return trip for two anywhere in the country with Air New Zealand, a bicycle and a digital camera.
The prizes are for people who walk, run, jog or push their way around the course.
Contestants will set off from Evanda Cres reserve at 9.30am, snake around the shoreline and cross the finish line at Conifer Grove School hall on Walter Strevens Dr.
They will then be able to cool their heels by watching live entertainment, grabbing a bite to eat or taking part in fun activities.
One of the organisers, Robert Green, says the inaugural event has been in the planning for more than a year and it is hoped it will kick-start regular fun runs around the district.
Papakura District Council recreation co-ordinator Willy Iosia says the council wants to highlight the district's parks and reserves.
The entry fee is $10, or $15 after Friday. Children aged 5-15 are $5, or $10 after Friday. Under-5s are free.
Forms are available from Conifer Grove School during office hours or emailtexkiwi@xtra.co.nz
