Northland wrap it up early
Counties Manukau were beaten in the first innings by Northland in their two-day Fergus Hickey Rosebowl match at the Weymouth Oval, Mountfort Park, Manurewa last weekend.
They batted first and were bowled out for 330 late on day one.
Brandon Hiini (Pukekohe-Metro) and Nick Kelly (Papakura) provided the nucleus of the Counties Manukau score with a 118 sixth-wicket partnership.
The only other batsman to make an impression was Ash Vodnala (Pukekohe-Metro) who made 75.
Bowlers Hiini and Tom Urry (Manukau) then got the home side off to a decent start when they combined to have the visitors 26-6 at stumps.
The match was still evenly poised with Northland going to lunch at 167-4.
But the Parlane brothers, Michael and Neil, put the Counties Manukau bowlers to the sword to wrap up the match by 4pm.
Michael made 65 and Neil 62 as Northland reached 333-6.
Adam Flegg (Waiuku) 2-68 and Urry 2-81 were Counties Manukau's best bowlers.
