Vintage engines, antique machinery and historic aircraft that shaped New Zealand are making a second appearance.

History buffs will also have the chance to view classic cars and military vehicles at Karaka Vintage Day on Sunday.

It will all be happening at Karaka Sports Park in association with the Karaka Historical Society and Vintage Engine Restorers Auckland.

The biennial event will also give visitors the opportunity to visit Karaka Museum which houses artefacts previously displayed at the Karaka War Memorial Hall.

Karaka Historical Society spokesman Rob Higham says the event attracts a large number of people from around the country.

"We try to ensure there is something for the whole family. The vintage displays are a real drawcard along with the parade of vehicles, machinery and tractors."

Adult tickets cost $15. Children are $5 and a family pass (2 adults and 2 children) is $30. Door sales only. Gates open at 9.30am. Parking is available on site.
