Food personality Jo Seagar will be returning to her roots to host a "party with a purpose" in support of a cause close to her heart.
The Hospice New Zealand patron lives in Canterbury and runs a business there but will be kicking off Hospice Awareness Month at Totara Hospice South Auckland with a ladies lunch on Friday.
"Totara Hospice is really quite close to my heart because I'm originally a girl from Clevedon," she says."
I'm looking forward to getting back to my old patch."
Seagar's fondness for Totara Hospice also comes from personal experience - her father was a short-term patient there.
It's not just a place for people to go when they're in their final stages of life, she says.
"A lot of people don't realise hospice is about supporting families. It's a place full of wonderful humour and caring."
The ladies lunch menu will feature recipes from Seagar's cookbooks.
"It's just a gorgeous girls lunch with lovely food we all love to eat," Seagar says.
As well as supporting a good cause, it will also "be about having a good laugh and a good time", she says.
The lunch includes bubbles, wine, dessert and coffee as well as a charity auction.Tickets cost $60 each and can be booked through eventfinder.co.nz.
