Business park matching residential swell
The lifestyle ideal of working and living in the same area may become a reality for Hibiscus Coast residents with Highgate Business Park in Silverdale North on their doorstep.
Earthworks are underway at the 60 hectare business park with high hopes the development will provide business opportunities to match the bulging residential growth in neighbouring development Millwater, where 3000 homes are planned.
The park runs alongside State Highway 1 and is zoned General Business under the Auckland Council Unitary Plan.
Part of the park has also been included in the Special Housing Area designated by the Auckland Council.
The residential zone will provide 180 new homes with a variety of housing types, including terraces and stand-alone dwellings.
Earthworks on the residential sites have started and should be ready for construction by the end of the year.
Sites within the business area are marketed by Barfoot & Thompson and range in size from 4000 square metres to 1.2 hectares. Titles are expected by August next year.
The development is divided into several sections which include retail, automotive, education, day care, medical, office and showroom, industrial, and potentially a retirement village area.
A service station and fast food shops are also planned.
Clayton Reid bought the park at a mortgagee sale from ANZ in 2012. The site was formerly named Silverstone, and owned by Rick Martin's Cornerstone Developments.
Highgate and neighbouring Millwater developers WFH Properties are jointly constructing the Wainui motorway interchange which should be ready for use in August next year.
An off-ramp from SH1 will link to Wainui Rd on the western side. Upgrading and widening of the Millwater Parkway from Bankside Rd to the Wainui Rd overbridge, and an on-ramp to SH1 from the Millwater Parkway at the intersection with Timberland Drive are included. Design and consenting has been a collaboration between WFH, Highgate, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council and the NZ Transport Agency.
