Night travel delays are expected on the Brynderwyn Hill section of State Highway 1 because of closures for road improvements.
Detours will be in place but the NZ Transport Agency is advising people to plan their travel and allow up to 30 minutes more if they are driving between Whangarei and Auckland at night.
The closures started yesterday and will last about three weeks. The road is closed from 8pm to 6am between Shoemaker Rd at Waipu to the intersection of SH1 and SH12 at Brynderwyn.
This week, it is closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
