A 24-year-old Palmerston North woman travelling north was killed in a Wellsford crash on Sunday at 3.50pm. A second person received moderate injuries.
Two cars collided on State Highway 1 near the intersection with Wayby Valley Rd, police say.
The highway was closed for several hours with diversions in place along State Highway 16 and Kaipara Flats Rd. Ambulance, fire and the Waitemata police serious crash unit attended.
Police are investigating.
