The godfather of dub reggae, Mad Professor, is coming to the Music Mountain Matakana 2010 Bush Party on Saturday, January 30.

He has produced more than 200 albums and worked with everyone who is anyone in this genre.

Mad Professor, aka Neil Fraser, is best known for his work on the Massive Attack albums and the Dub Me Crazy series.

From Georgetown, Guyana and living and working out of London, he comes to Matakana from a tour of Mexico, South America and Australia.

This is his only New Zealand appearance.

Fraser picked up his nickname as a youngster when his friends noticed how easily he could take apart and reassemble most electrical appliances.

Headlining this year’s collection of reggae, dub, blues and DJ acts is Katchafire.

The 12-hour Bush Party also features Rhombus, Open Souls, dDub and the Knights of the Dub Table.

DJ sets come from Dub Asylum, Koa Williams, Julian Dyne, Isaac Aesili and DJ Automatic.

This is the third Bush Party – the first sold out with Fat Freddy’s Drop, and the second featured the Black Seeds and Salmonella Dub.

The date for this year’s event was brought forward to coincide with Auckland Anniversary Weekend.

Tickets for this boutique venue are limited.

They are available online from Eventfinder, or at Real Groovy in Auckland, Musicor in Whangarei, and The Black Dog and Fat Cat in Matakana Village.
