Kensington Park has started to fulfil its promises to residents with the opening of the pool house complex, playground, walkway and new apartments.
The park in north Orewa was bought from receivers by Southpark Corporation last year and the new owners quickly set about making good on finishing projects that were promised to residents by the previous owners.
The pool house was unfinished when Southpark took over but now the eight-metre heated pool, sauna and gym are open for residents.
The outside playground in Frank Mackereth reserve has also been finished.
Southpark are cele-brating the opening of a new road leading to the Sea View homes. The first few houses have been finished and sold, and already the next row are being constructed and will go on the market shortly.
The last block of apartments facing Eaves Bush have finally been completed and sold, and work is under way on the Lakeside Apartments. Construction of the lake is
due to commence soon.
"They apartments are due for completion June and are on the market now," says Kensington marketing manager Helen Wreaks.
The Millennium Walkway from Millennium Way is now open for public to walk the original route via West Hoe Rd through Kensington Park, over the bridge and
through Eaves Bush.
Southpark has appointed Richard de Haast, a former chief executive of Metlifecare, as the new chief executive of the company to manage Kensington and its 100 residents.
"It’s good to see progress like this made in this kind of economic environment. It’s good news," says Ms Wreaks.
