"I would like to nominate Gillian Linton of Riverhead who arranged a charity art auction in Riverhead on November 12 to raise funds for my husband, David Curtis, who has brain cancer," Fiona Curtis says.
"Gillian rounded up local artists and ran a fabulous event at The Riverhead's Boathouse, raising around $4000 towards our hefty medical bills.
"Gillian turned up with a meal and said she was going to rally the community. I was just expecting a cake stall but she organised a charity art auction at The Riverhead. She is truly amazing.
"We want to sincerely thank Gillian for her compassion, drive and friendship towards our family at this difficult stage in our lives."
David, a talented musician and piano tuner, just went through his last week of radiation and faces six months of chemotherapy.
As Fiona says, he may have lost some hair but he hasn't lost his sense of humour.
