About 100 golfers raised $15,000 for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind's Guide Dog Services in a charity tournament at the Omaha Golf Club.
It was organised by real estate agency Bayleys and funds were raised by team participation, hole sponsorship and a charity auction which raised $4725. Auction items included Omaha Golf Club membership, a luxury stay at Riverside Matakana lodge, use of a BMW convertible, Radio Network advertising, legal services from Dyson Smythe and Gladwell, and a vintage bottle of wine.
The event was won by an ANZ bank team featuring Ian Gerber, Martin Richardson, Marcus Foot and Craig Offwood.
The inaugural golfing fundraiser's success and the generous support of sponsors has already spurred planning for an annual event, Bayleys North of Auckland director Mark Macky says.
