Cloudy but warm is the likely scenario for Christmas Day around Auckland.
Showers are possible too, as weather forecasters are uncertain of how Cyclone Evan's Pacific battering will impact on us.
MetService's Peter Kreft says weather analysts have yet to take a good look at what December 25 will bring, but the 10-day forecast shows it's likely to be humid with a high of around 25 degrees Celsius and an overnight low of 17C and easterly winds.
WeatherWatch says Cyclone Evan is muddying things because tropical storms are unpredictable.
Long range forecasts are also based heavily on computer models and can change.
The upper North Island is expected to get easterly winds, cloudy periods with a 40 per cent chance of showers and high humidity. The chance of rain on Christmas Day is put at around 30 per cent to 50 per cent.
Boxing Day is expected to be a little better.
