Alex Hart quit her job, lost weight, enrolled to study Spanish then volunteered in a South American orphanage for a month.

That all started when the Silverdale resident joined up for a Sky television programme called Starting Over.

The series on Vibe is about changing the careers and lives of eight different women, with Alex featuring on February 24, 7.30pm.

Each episode has one of the women helped by a team of experts, including life coach Sian Jaquet (The Big Stuff, TV3), career practitioner Sarah Moyne, stylist Samantha Hannah and special guest experts such as former Olympic boardsailing medallist Barbara Kendall of Stanmore Bay.

Alex, 45, had been working as a tax consultant for 27 years and wanted to take the plunge into something new.

A speaker of three foreign languages and learning Russian for fun, Alex wanted to expand this into her career or head into other areas of interest like writing or the great outdoors. A back injury had limited her activity so she was keen to tackle her work-life balance and improve her wellbeing.

Alex achieved a lot through the show and even set up a blog website, alexhart.co.nz.

The series premieres on February 10.

Visit startingover.co.nz for information, including tools and resources for viewers to ‘start over' themselves and a prize pack worth more than $16,500.
